Mob Arena

⌚ Coming Soon

This page includes upcoming content that is currently in development.

Everything here is subject to change before implementation!

Mob Arena is a co-op PvE minigame in a colosseum-style arena where the objective is to defeat waves of mobs.

You start with 3 lives and must defeat as many rounds as you can.

Every 10 rounds, you face a boss round featuring a custom boss mob. From round 30 onwards, defeating a boss will award all surviving players with an extra life.

Gamemodes

Mob Arena features a variety of gamemodes to cater to all types of players:

Normal

The classic Mob Arena experience. Fight waves of increasingly more challenging mobs, unlock upgrades and take down bosses in a battle to become the champion of the arena.

Casual

A relaxed mode with fewer, easier rounds. Ideal for practice or shorter games.

Omen (⌚ Coming Soon)

Requirement: Beat Normal A challenge reserved only for the most experienced players, featuring a new set of much tougher rounds.

Boss Rush

Requirement: Beat Normal A challenge mode featuring every boss in the game back to back. Get an upgrade every round!

Voting

This contains technical information. Don't worry if you don't understand it!

Before a game starts, all players get the opportunity to vote for a gamemode.

Mode selection is made via a preferential voting system, rather than the more commonly used plurality (first-past-the-post) vote.

If you vote for Omen or Casual and your gamemode does not win, your vote will be counted as a Normal mode vote.

In practice, this means:

  • Omen requires a majority of votes over Normal and Casual combined.

  • Casual requires a majority of votes over Normal and Omen combined.

  • Boss Rush requires a majority of votes over every other mode combined.

In the event of a tie, Normal mode will be picked.

Why use this system?

Imagine 3 players vote for Casual, 2 for Normal, and 2 for Omen. With plurality voting, Casual would win even though 4 players (more than half!) didn't want it.

Someone who wants Omen would probably prefer Normal over Casual. Furthermore, if they had voted for Normal it would have won! Oh no, a wasted vote!

With preferential voting, the two Omen votes become Normal votes, and now Normal wins. This means no votes are wasted!

Rounds

Every round, a predetermined set of mobs spawn. To beat the round, you must defeat all of them.

The quantity of mobs scales based on player count.

There are different types of rounds that influence what kind of mobs you will face:

Round 5

Mobs

Mob Arena features a combination of vanilla mobs and new custom coded mobs.

Some of these are re-imaginations of existing mobs, while others are brand new concepts.

List of custom mobs

Spider

Spiders now shoot webs at players.

Spiders will not shoot webs when within melee range of a player.

Piglin

Piglins are adaptive and will switch between their sword and crossbow depending on their distance to the player.

Leaper

Leapers are a faster variant of regular zombies that can jump several blocks in the air.

Zombie Fighter

Zombie Fighters wield a sword and are stronger than regular zombies.

Zombie Defender

Zombie Defenders wield a sword and shield and will block attacks unless their target gets close enough.

Skeleton Hunter

A faster and stronger variant of the Skeleton with harder hitting arrows.

Skeleton Assassin (⌚ Coming Soon)

Skeleton Assassins are adaptive with the type of arrow they use, hitting melee classes with weakness arrows and ranged classes with blindness.

Blaster

A creeper mixed with a leaper. In all the bad ways.

Jungle Spider (⌚ Coming Soon)

A more potent variant of the cave spider, with the ability to leap.

Bosses

Every boss in Mob Arena is completely custom coded, with unique abilities to challenge your skills!

We recommend trying these out for yourself before relying on this guide.

List of bosses

Undead Warrior

Round 10

An armored zombie with a sword, shield and dash attack.

Try to time your hits to its dash, while its shield is down.

Undead Ranger

Round 20

An tactical skeleton with a sword and bow. Has a close range burst attack.

Pay attention to when it's charging up its burst. This gives Weakness, so run!

Matriarch

Round 30

A brooding mother spider with a whole nest ready to hatch.

Try not to get overwhelmed with spiderlings! Getting caught in webs can be dangerous, so watch out.

Aquatic Lord

Round 40

A strange being from the seas, armed with a trident and deadly laser.

The reanimated body is immune to damage! Aim for the head, and keep a close eye on the barrage of tridents.

Primordial Creeper

Round 50

A failed experiment, transformed into a TNT launching monstrosity.

This creeper's armor plating deflects any attack that comes its way. You'll need to use its own explosives to make an opening.
