This page is a continuation of the main Progression page. Read that first if you haven't already!

At this stage, you will progress towards automation and industry, generating power to run facilities ranging from small contraptions up to full scale factories.

Advanced materials require multiple steps to craft, making use of different stations provided by the Create mod.

This page has been split up into "tiers" of progression. Each contains a checklist of exactly what you need to do and a more detailed overview of how to progress in that tier.


Tier 4: Diamond Age

Once you obtain andesite alloy, you will need to begin utilising Create's mechanics to progress further.

Diamond requires multiple steps to refine, using Create machinery.

Mechanisation

Basic mechanical components are made using andesite alloy.

Rotational stress can be generated using a water wheel and propagated by connecting shafts and cogwheels.

Mechanical blocks allow for new recipes to be performed:

A millstone is spun using cogwheels and is used to crush down items.

Millstones greatly increase the yield of flour and rice from their respective crops.

  • 1 Wheat -> 1 Flour

  • 1 Rice Panicle -> 1 Rice

  • 1 Bone -> 1 Bone Meal

  • 1 Cobblestone -> 1 Gravel

  • 1 Raw Diamond -> 1 Rough Diamond + 1 Gravel

  • 1 Cinnabar -> 1 Redstone + 1 Sulfur

Diamond

Diamond ore is found buried below Y-48 and must be crushed then washed to obtain usable diamonds.

To refine diamonds you will need a millstone and an encased fan.

  1. Mill raw diamond in millstone

  2. Wash rough diamond by blowing fan through water

Optional: Mechanical Baking

A similar process can also be used to efficiently manufacture bread using a millstone and a mechanical mixer placed over a basin.

Furthermore, by crafting a spout, filled using an item drain and a mechanical pump you can dispense liquids onto items. Fluids can be pumped into fluid tanks for compact storage.

  1. Grind wheat in millstone into flour

  2. Mix flour and water in basin for dough

  3. Cook dough into bread

  4. (Optional) Spout milk onto bread for sweet roll

Tier 5: Brass Age

Advanced Create components rely on brass, an alloy of zinc and copper.

To make some, first obtain a blaze burner from a nether fortress. By placing this below a mechanical mixer setup and feeding it fuel, copper and zinc can be mixed to form brass.

While in the nether, you should also collect quartz which can be combined with redstone to make rose quartz. Rose quartz, iron sheets and tinted glass together will make an electron tube, used for automated machinery and logical components.

Automation

Mechanically mixing saplings with water in a basin will create pulp. Pulp can be smoked to create rubber. Rubber can be used for funnels, tunnels and conveyor belts, important components to automate item transfer.

Using brass and an electron tube you can craft a deployer. Deployers can automate player actions and are chiefly used to craft precision mechanisms.

Through blaze burners and automation new recipe types become available:

Heated mixing recipes are performed by placing a blaze burner under a mechanical mixer setup.

  • 2 Copper + 1 Zinc -> 1 Brass

  • 1 Clay + 4 Sand + 4 Gravel + 1000mB Water -> 8 Concrete Powder

  • 1 Sugar + 1 Cocoa Beans + 250mB Milk -> 250mB Chocolate

  • 250mB Water + 250mB Milk + Leaves -> 500mB Builder's Tea

Precision Mechanism

Precision mechanisms are created through sequenced assembly by repeatedly deploying cogwheels and iron ingots onto a golden sheet - 5x in a row. The sheet (or unfinished mechanism) can be on a depot or belt.

A belt can move the unfinished mechanism in a cycle, allowing the whole process to be done automatically.

Optional: Wind Power

To keep up with rising power demands, a windmill generates much more power than water wheels. A single windmill can supply a small base.

  1. Place a windmill bearing in an open space

  2. Attach a block to the sticky side

  3. Attach windmill sail frames

  4. Right click on sail frames using canvas to rig the sails

  5. Right click the bearing to make the windmill start spinning

The rotation speed and amount of power depends on the number of sail blocks.

Tier 6: Netherite Age

Netherite's rarity is unchanged, however ancient debris now requires industry to refine.

At some point you may also want to look into setting up a windmill or steam engine for additional power.

Mechanical Crafting

By combining brass, precision mechanisms and electron tubes you can create a mechanical crafter. These automate crafting recipes and also support new recipes on a 5x5 grid.

One such 5x5 recipe is the crushing wheel.

Crushing Wheel

The crushing wheel has immense rotational stress demands and acts as an upgraded form of the millstone, powerful enough to crush down even netherite and obsidian.

Raw ores can be crushed with a crushing wheel, further increasing the efficiency of iron and andesite alloy refining.

Advanced Iron Mixing Recipes

  • 4 Crushed Raw Iron + 1 Charcoal -> 4 Iron Bloom

  • 4 Crushed Raw Iron + 1 Charcoal + 4 Andesite -> 4 Iron Flux

Blaze Cakes

Mechanically pressing cinder flour, gunpowder and sugar in a basin will create a Blaze Cake Base, which can be filled with lava using a spout.

Gunpowder can be dropped by creepers or crafted by combining sulfur, charcoal and bone meal.

Netherite Refining

A blaze burner can be fed a blaze cake to temporarily 'superheat' it, unlocking new mixing recipes.

Crushing ancient debris with crushing wheels will yield netherite scrap. Mixing netherite scrap with gold in a superheated mixer will yield netherite ingots.

Netherite smithing templates can be found in bastions and pipelines.

Optional: Steam Power

Steam engines make it easy to keep up with the demanding power requirements for crushing wheels and mechanical crafters.

The engine itself is made via mechanical crafting. To generate power, complete the following steps:

  1. Place one or more steam engines on a fluid tank. This will convert the fluid tank into a boiler.

  2. Place blaze burners directly below the boiler. Blaze burners will passively generate a small amount of heat, but for full power output they should be fed with a constant fuel supply. Tip: Farming bamboo, kelp or charcoal and feeding a blaze burner using conveyor belts and funnels can ensure reliable power.

  3. Pump water into the boiler using mechanical pumps and pipes. A separate power source such as water wheels or a hand crank can be used to start the engine. Tip: Once running, a steam engine can be connected to its own pump to keep itself supplied.

A boiler's power output depends on its size, heat supply and water supply. A single engine block can output up to 16,384su. A single boiler can supply up to 18 engines. For more detailed information about your boiler, look at it using Engineer's Goggles ingame.

The Late-Game

The process to get to the End has been completely overhauled to involve many Overworld structures.

Beyond the Ender Dragon, there is further progression including an entire new tool tier above netherite.
